In room 3, we have been making things to do with gardens. So we had to make a garden quotation and meme. Here is my quotation. If you don't get it comment: I don't get it. |
I am a Year 8 student at Ahipara School in Northland, NZ. I am in Room 3 and my teacher is Mrs Takimoana.

Book review-sisters
For the past couple of weeks, we had to do a book review (using google slides) on a book that we enjoyed to read. I chose Sisters by Raina Telgmeier.

Speech-2018
10 ways to teach me.
Sometimes, it's a bit hard to teach me. I get easily distracted and off task very fast. I am no everyday kid, or what people say, normal. Though, no one is normal. We are all different, amazing and fantastic in our own kind of way. Kia ora, my name is Jessie-Lee and I am here today to tell you all 10 ways to teach me.
#1. I work well independently. This is because I have no one to talk too. Now, I know that sounds pretty lonesome, but it's true. I have no one to muck around with, no one to play with, which means I can get on with my work and get it done.
#2. Treats at the end get me going! I will work harder if I get a treat for working well. 1 or 2 a day will be fine for me. I do anything if it means getting a treat for doing it and doing it well.
#3. Some people call me tutu-fingers. I love fiddling with things, particularly Blu-tack and things I can play with that are in my hands. Actually, just things I can play with in general. When I play with something, it helps me think on what to do next and that helps me with my work.
#4. I love doing fun things. Fun is my middle name! I like to bake and do arts + crafts and things like that. So if we are going to do sports or something, COUNT ME IN!!!
#5. Science is my thing! I love to do anything with science. Mainly practical science experiments but others will do too I guess. Mainly things that go KABOOM.
#6. Sometimes, my brain needs a little break off work. So when I need a break, consider giving it to me. That or you could just let me get a drink of water or let me do something active outside.
#7. It’s important for me to choose my own tool for my learning. Sometimes I need help to choose the right tool but then I don’t. My life is very confusing, even for me!!!
#8. Most times, I need space for my learning so I can focus more on my work. I need to focus less on the things that are happening outside and more on what I am meant to be doing.
#9. Passion projects are important to me. I like to do passion projects because they allow me to have fun while doing work! Passion projects are FUN!!! For me that is.
#10. “OMG! Jessie, you are so weird! Who spends their spare time reading these days?” People say that I am weird because I spend some of my spare time reading a book. Not any normal book, a comic or graphic novel! I find them very interesting and amusing. I read other books as well but I like to read comics and graphic novels more than the chapter books that people read. The books I read have lots of information that I don’t know, for instance, Weird but true books. Did you know that there is a pink lake in Australia? Crazy right?
That’s all I have for today folks, but don’t you worry! I will be back with another speech. I hope you all consider thinking of these 10 ways to teach me because they could come in handy one day. Even when you think you have cracked the code of teaching Jessie-Lee

Flash fiction
I start to hear chains rattle. It sounds like bad chain music. Then out from the bushes, an ugly man starts walking towards me. I walk back as he walks forward. With him coming at me, I start running. As I start running he starts chasing. Running, I trip and bump my head and my head starts spinning. I see pitch black and then my mind starts taking me back to the last time I saw Rose.
I get an image of me sitting in my room with Rose at my side. I was sitting on the edge of my bed doing my homework. Looking down at Rose, I noticed that she was very sick. I got up to make a call to the vets and that’s when it happened. I broke down into tears, praying nothing bad would happen to her. I couldn’t bare the thought of losing my best friend.
As I wake up, I see the man, in a blur, getting closer and closer as I am still on the floor. I get up and start sprinting as fast as a bunny rabbit or even a cheetah. All I am thinking is to run as fast as my legs can take it. I run and run until he can't run anymore. While he slows down, I run and hide in a bush.
I see a helicopter pass by, looking for someone. It's a police helicopter probably coming to pick the ugly man up and lock him away in jail. I try to run for it, to get the helicopter pilots attention. Maybe they could take me with them, so I can go home and see my little Rose again. Hopefully, she’s still alive. But by the time I get to a clear spot, it is too late. The helicopter has left and taken the ugly man with them,, leaving me all alone....
I.....AM.....STRANDED!!!
